E-learning is a relatively new
term to describe education using computers,
the internet, and other electronic
devices such as handheld PDAs, laptops
and mobile phones.
E-learning (sometimes spelt elearning)
can be performed from a distance,
as in distance learning, or in a group,
classroom or one-on-one scenario.
Computers used in e-learning can be
networked via a LAN or wireless connection
to provide an interactive experience
for the students and teachers. Custom
e-learning solutions are becoming
more and more popular, but it is also
possible to begin e-learning using
software and applications already
available on the web.
Although "e-learning" has
been around since 1984 when computers
and distributed media was starting
to become a publically accessible
technology, it has developed and now
has many layers. Educational development
and the need for new learning techniques
has spurred the creation of new technology
and software which allows e-learning
to become easier for all involved.
Now, to "e-learn" is much
more affordable and its much easier
to find cheap e-learning solutions.
