The provisional programme for this years Handheld Learning Conference and Exhibition has now been published:

http://www.handheldlearning2007.com/pages/programme.php

As expected, a superb line up of policy makers, thought leaders, opinion formers and key practitioners sharing their knowledge and experiences with an equally influential audience.

We're looking forward to it!

That looks a fantastic line up.

I'm looking forward to hearing how the next phase of the learning2go work is getting along, but I didn't see Dave's name on the list of speakers, is he not coming? I think it is important to hear how a sustainable, longer term view of implementing mobile learning in schools is progressing. Hopefully all our projects will be at that stage in a few years and I would rather learn from their experience than come up against the same problems.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Spike Town

Thanks for your support!

Yes, Learning2Go will be found in the Practitioners Village where a number of long term sustainable initiatives are represented including Hand E-Learning from Bristol, Learning Everywhere from Bradford, Ealing and West London College and ictGateshead. The idea of the Practitioners Village is to create a space where practitioners can meet for in-depth dialogue, demonstration and information sharing.

Also in the plenary sessions we have Paul Hodgkinson and Philip Smith from Durham LA, Michael Wilkinson and Richard Gunson from Bradford and Ian Stuart from Islay High School. There are also many other initiatives represented, both UK and overseas, throughout the programme of breakouts so I'm confident that you will find a great deal of useful ideas and evidence of sustainable implementation for mobile learning.

The full conference guide will be online this Friday.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Slightly off-topic, but a question for Graham:

Will there be free Wi-Fi access at the conference? Last time at the QE2 I spent a fortune on mobile data costs and Wi-Fi vouchers from the venue, to stay in touch with the outside world.

Hi Wolf

Yes, we'll be selling Wi-Fi access cards for £25 per day...

 Grin

Just kidding, but seriously in the past wireless access has been beyond our control because venues (like a lot of hotels) have seen this as a great way to fleece people (I wonder when hotels will start charging for towels? Although I expect Ryan Air are working on this one).

This year with the assistance of sponsors T-Mobile and NexGen Solutions there will be a number of wireless hotspots for those delegates without mobile broadband.  Wink

That's great news, thanks. I do have mobile broadband but for most people on normal data tariffs that can still be quite an expense over three days. What with all that conference liveblogging that will be going on...!

I've heard some people say that they refuse to go to conferences who don't offer free Wi-Fi these days. I appreciate that there is a price to pay for it - the QE2 Centre charge £100/day for Wi-Fi access for conferences, so it's not that expensive for you though, is it?

And since I have your full attention, my other request after last year was to have a delegate list, at least on the day (if not available before). That is, like, soo important. Pretty please with cherries on top!

We'll try to have a delegate list, at least, in online format by the show, but...

...we're a small team and there are often unexpected priorities just prior to the event Wink
