Ran across this one this morning: Pocket VRVS.

Quote
PocketVRVS is a new videoconferencing client developed by the VRVS Team for the Pocket PC platform. It supports H.261 video standard and G.711 (?-Law) audio standard. Due to lack of CPU performance the current version of PocketVRVS client doesn't allow sending of live video from Pocket PC camera; however users can send a CIF sized still image stored in JPEG format. For handheld videoconferencing it is only practical to display one video at a time because of the limited screen resolution of a handheld computer. This task is carried out by VRVS reflectors, which send to the PocketVRVS client only the video of current speaker. Minimum requirements are a Pocket PC 2003 with network (wire/wireless) interface and a 400MHz CPU. PocketVRVS works inside networks with NAT (Network Address Translation). First time users will be prompted to enter their name and e-mail for videoconferencing sessions. Later they can change these data using a dialog called "User data..." which is accessible from "Settings" section of Program Menu.

More info can be found here: http://www.vrvs.org/Documentation/PocketVRVSdoc#intro

I haven't seen this software in action but would be interested to find out if anybody has used it.

It looks like you send still, pre-caught images, and real time audio - I'm now thinking of a learning and teaching application for mobile users where it adds value above skype. Anyone got some good suggestions? Fieldwork springs to mind .... would it be wonderful, snap that photo, upload and discuss ...

In terms of trying it, then why don't some of us try to arrange a test ? If some people want to look into the how bit (thinking of a technically minded person), then the rest of use to follow orders, install and away we go (ish). Any volunteers?

The home pages are: http://www.vrvs.org/?id=1 - it looks like we'll need to register !
