Another scoop for the Handheld Learning community!

This time it's the official datasheet for the new Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket Loox 800 series devices due to be launched this February and on the market a couple of months later.

This is the first mobile phone device from FSC and combines GSM/UMTS (3G) phone technology with GPS navigation, Windows Mobile 5.0 (phone edition), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a built-in 2 MP (1600 x 1200 for still, VGA for video) camera and email 'push' solution (like Blackberry).

Having Wi-Fi built-in means that users can use free VoIP software such as Skype to make free voice calls when in Wi-Fi hotspots rather than use the overpriced 3G/GSM connections.

The device has a built-in thumb keyboard like the Treo.

The main downside to an otherwise very exciting device is the relatively low resolution screen, 240 x 240, which seems to be the most that WinMob 5 seems to be able to support on mobile phone devices right now (ala, HP 6515, Treo 700w, etc).

Why this PDF file has been generated by author of that "scoop"? (see document properties of this PDF file)

Could it be that it is a fake?

Cheesy

msmobiles.com welcome to our Forum!

Well, I guess you'll just have to wait and see.

Had you considered that the pdf was modified to protect it's source?

But as the author, I can assure you that this sheet is no fake.

It seems that the "patron saint of handhelds" doesn't have a fan in ms mobiles.com however it does seem somewhat contradictory that msmobiles.com on one hand suggests that the document is a fake but at the same time display's the same document on their web-site as a screenshot  with "msmobiles.com" emblazoned on it as if to denote their own "scoop"!

Oh what fun!  Grin

Hi efwalter and welcome to the forum!

I've done a bit of checking on your behalf and indeed it would appear that this device will accept a standard SIM card, including those subscribed to 2G services.
