Working with projectors from a Palm
«

OK, I've read the posting on using a Pocket PC with a data projector and the solutions there. I invested in an expensive Margi presenter to go but despite spending a lot of time on it, it's cranky and temperamental - it will just drop out for no apparent reason which is bad enough in class but horrible in giving presentations extolling the virtues of handhelds!
If anyone knows of a solution for a Zire 72, I'm all ears!
Best wishes

Hi Phil,
If you just want to show how to do something with a Palm on a big screen, then the PalmOS simulator does a decent job.
Generic versions available for free from the developer sections at
www.palmsource.com
and for device specific sims
pluggedin.palm.com/
they can even hotsync, which can be handy.
(hopefully andy R will appear shortly to explain how well margi to go works for him.

I've seen lately where Marji has dropped the palm kit and gone with more of a wireless addapter for the projectors. I think its wi-fi or something else. Check out the HP wireless projectors too. They're a little more expensive but can be used wirelessly with any PDA/laptop.
You might also check out Liberty Control from GX5 software. It allows you to control presentations from any PDA. I'm not sure on the hardware specs.
Hope this helps.

For those who come across this, I ended up deciding on something called PDA Reach. It's the most stable thing I could find but it's only for the PC - not available on the Mac.
It throws up a great image, much better than Margi and cost a mere fraction - around $30 US.
Cheers

We're all mourning the loss of Margi.
A good alternative though is HandShare. It's great for demonstrations, instructing a group, and also making screenshots or screencasts. It requires a Windows desktop or laptop.
A nice side benefit of this is that it will work with an interactive whiteboard (SmartBoard) as well.

What I'd find really useful in the classroom would be the ability to connect my Palm T3 either directly or through my "teacher's" desktop PC, presumably via Bluetooth, to the data projector. It would enable me to be anywhere in the room, and "beam" the T3's screen to the whole class.
Whilst being useful for demonstrations, simulators wouldn't fulfil this need.
Any ideas ?
