Hello

Those of you who are members and logged in will notice a new section called the SpeakEasy which is a private area of the site that is only visible and useable for members.

This isn't intended to make the Forum an exclusive club but more because some members had asked for an area to share information with other members but without the rest of the internet seeing - well unless they'd taken the trouble to sign up!

Will be interesting to see what happens in the SpeakEasy over the coming weeks  Wink

If you're not already a member just select the register option above, sign up is easy and we do not share our data or send commercial email  Smiley

Hi Graham,
I’ve just heard of the list and joined this evening.
I’ve not checked the personal profile section yet, so it may be answered there, but I’m preparing this off-line to save the non-broadband phone bill, so can’t check right now.

Are these messages available as an email digest, (I’m on a couple of others, eg ukpug) ?  If they are it would mean I can download the messages and read and prepare replies off-line.  I find reading on-line (especially the backlog I’d like to catch up on) less convenient, partly due to the guilt feeling generated by the 56k (actually 45.2kb on a good day) modem and the sound of cash registers !

Also can I access the forum through the school’s broadband (without having to register again) ?

Regards,

Peter B (thornuk)

Hi Peter

And welcome to the Forum!

An email digest is a good idea,so I'm going to look in to seeing how easy it would be to provide that option. Every week or so I send out a short newsletter to let people know what's going on and remind them to check in with the Forum but that's not really the same thing.

In the meantime, you may have already noticed the "print" button that appears at the lower right when you're reading a thread. If you select that option you'll receive a non-graphics version of the text that you can then either print or just copy and paste into a text processor. A bit of an effort but might be useful.

I know the problem with dial-up's well, 6 months ago I was in the middle of a jungle (really!) with a 12Kb line that was costing a fortune! I didn't spend too long on msn messenger talking to my mates that's for sure! Grin

You should be able to access this forum from anywhere by just signing in with your username "thornuk" and your password. You only need to register the once so you're all set.

Cheers

Graham
