Shortly I will be installing an Exchange 2003 server in my office.  I was wondering if anyone out there had an advice, words of wisdom/caution, etc. when it comes to introducing Exchange into the Pocket PC mix (or on Exchange in general).  This will be a brand new solution, not replacing an old Exchange box.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there!

I can't say that I've had direct experience but am about to have to do this same thing for one of my clients. I've been googling around the net and there's quite a few articles that seem to have the answer. I haven't tried them yet so I can't guarantee any of them!

Here's some links though:

An article by Daniel Petri - this has been recommend by several parties
Some postings of PDAphonehome.com

Good luck and let us know how you get on  Smiley

Thanks Graham.  I have been searching also and have found a couple of articles.  I item I learned last week is that public contacts cannot synchronize with Pocket PCs.  There is no problem syncing an individuals contacts, but if there are contacts that everyone shares (public), the Pocket PC won't get them.  Curiously, there is a $30 (US) program for the Palm that allows for the sharing of public contacts.  I am looking for a solution to this, but haven't found anything yet.

ActiveSync does not provide a way to synchronize the default Outlook folders, so it does not provide a way to synchronize a Public contacts folder. There are some third party programs that provide work arounds such as Pocket Contact Synchronizer: http://www.mapistore.com/Outlook/Backup_and_Synchronize/Review_00639_index.html

Another tool that you may want to check out is mGALSync, which synchronizes the Outlook/Exchange Global Address List to Contacts on the Pocket PC. http://www.slipstreamsolutions.co.uk/products/mGALSync.htm

Thanks.  Have you used either of these programs?  I tend to always lean toward the one that is free, but if the other is easier to operate, more stable, or substantially more powerful, I can probably part w/ the $44.97 for 3 licenses for the three folks in my office that have Pocket PCs.
