Hello

I'm building the voodoo (software tech) that will provide this Forum with it's very own shareware/freeware software download library. Although you can find some excellent examples of educational software for handheld computers if you look around the internet I thought it would be a good idea if we tried to establish our own library that was specifically geared to our needs with reviews and curriculum usage ideas created by our community.

I think that this could be a great resource for all of us to use, it could also be a good place for developers to show off their products by providing demo versions etc.

Time permitting I hope to have something up and running in the next week or so.  Wink

But I need your help! More specifically I need the software to put in the library!

If you're a software developer or publisher then please let me know about your software. I need to know what it does, what it runs on, how much it costs (if relevant), how people register (if relevant) and some screen shots. I need you to send versions of the software in zip format and your permission to put these files on this Forum for free download by its members.

If you're a user and are using some freeware or shareware that you think should be in our library then please let me know.

Just email me at the usual address!

Thanks for all your help  Smiley

Graham,

Please feel free to include the links to our software in your library.  My R&D group at Wake Forest University (North Carolina, USA) has developed 2 applications that can be downloaded free  Cheesy from our sites, which include user manuals, FAQs, and so forth.  Both are for PocketPC only (versions for 2002 and 2003 on sites).  One application, ClassInHand(TM) is a web server for a wireless-enabled PocketPC with polling and other functionality built in to take advantage of the server; it's designed for an instructor to use in a classroom where students have some kind of device with a browser.  The other application, DataInHand(TM) is a data collection device that enables you to build your data collection form on your desktop and push it down to PocketPC, then retrieve the data from the PocketPC for analysis back on the desktop.  We've used it very successfully in field-based classes.  The links are:  http://classinhand.wfu.edu and http://datainhand.wfu.edu.

Hi Anne

That's great, thank you very much for supporting this initiative!

Also thanks to those that have emailed me with software and suggestions.
