Ooh, cheers for this. These look useful for my students. I wonder how useable they are actually ON a PDA...? Off for a play at that! Will let you know if they are useable that way (would seem good idea to have to-hand training /how tos on the devices themselves?)

Yes, very useful - Jon, I don't know where you find the time

It also links to another thread where we've been discussing about student (staff) training - http://www.handheldlearning.co.uk/community/forum/index.php?topic=50.0 -

Using these resources you could quite quickly weave a stand alone training session for people, and add that all imprtant local value added context. For instance, a theme which involves them entering some information in the memo area, then beaming this to another device. These standa lone, self paced learning modules would be very useful.

Developing Kathy's point (I'm assuming that she intended internet access to these files - apologies if I've got it wrong) it would be even better if they released the quicktime files so they could be stored on an SD card and handed out at the training session.

I'd also like to see the idea of themes, i.e., changes you can make to enhance onscreen reading. This might involve a set of approaches from screen orientation, font sizes, screen colours etc., We could then add the local value added part about assistive technologies and screen magnifiers - Teal Magnify Plus - http://palmsource.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=310

So, I suppose, it should be come on Palm, more please  ... or, come on Palm give me fist fulls of cash, and I'll go to a nice hot sunny location and work on some for you. I will not be holding my breathe on either account  Grin

That was my thinking Andy, yeah (sorry, got SD cards on the brain just now so didn't think to be more specific ;-))
And yes, it also links to the training thread, which I'm following with great interest just now, so thanks to all for the suggestions in there. I did my first session about the Treos on friday with the students, but before they were actually handed the devices. I realised half-way through that there wasn't too much point in that as they didn't really know what I was on about! Ho hum. A lesson learnt there.  Undecided
