Handheld Learning - learning with mobile and ubiquitous technologies

Hi,

I am currently a 5th year medical student. I have secured my PRHO jobs, and was really happy to see that my PG tutor was someone who was very keen on conducting PDA projects.

Having spoken to him, he was keen in trying to develop a PDA based system to view PRHO jobs.

What currently happens:
1. patient requires cannula inserted,
2. ward staff bleeps PRHO
3. PRHO turns up, completes job and leaves
4. 5 mins later, someone else on the ward he/she just left bleeps again for another job
5. PRHO returns (if he/she remembers) after all the other jobs completed - resulting long waiting

Complaints from PRHOs because of innapropriate and excessive bleeping
Complaints from nursing staff because of long time waiting or PRHOs forgetting the jobs.

We were wondering whether there is anyway of developing a system or program which will log jobs inputted by the ward staff, and then individual PRHOs can check the latest list - either by wirelessly sync or having sync stations. This way when a particular PRHO is free, they can probably help cut this job list if they are on that ward.
