All you early birds that registered for the conference and got yourself a free Nintendo DS, please don't forget to bring it with you fully charged and raring to go.

One of the things you'll be doing with it during the conference sessions is chattingand sharing your thoughts with each other. You may even find yourself in groups where you'll be asked to present some of your thinking to the wider audience.

The technology you'll be using to do this is already built-in to your DS and it's called Pictochat. If you haven't used Pictochat yet don't worry because you'll soon get the hang of it.

Steve Bunce of Northumberland County Council has very graciously produced both a video and downloadable how-to guide that will get you started. If you're still a bit stuck find a 5 year old who will be more than happy to help out. Ideally you should try this out with another DS owning friend before you come to the conference but there will also be plenty of opportunities on the first day.

Download the guide here

Thanks once again to Steve Bunce!!  Smiley

Also for those fancying a bit of mobile phone action then make sure you're ready to tweet with twitter by following Tony Vincent's guide here.

We will also be using Txttools "question by txt" system in the main auditorium where you simply send a txt with your question preceded by HHL to 88020

It's all mobiletastic!

I've been using it at home with my 5 and 6 year old girls who are learning to read and write. They love sending messages to each other, even if they are not spelt correctly. A good way of encouraging emergent writing via technology with young learners? I think so...

I liked the way it was used subversively at the conference with delegates using it to chat during sessions and keynotes.

I know that a few people made new friends using it, which was nice.

I think you mean Room B as we called ourselves! I've written up a little piece on the ds on my blog that might add a little to the ideas around using the ds educationally! http://www.xlearn.co.uk/blogger.html
What a great video by Steve Bunce!
