We are looking at adding to our set of EDA's for a Mediascape project. Does anyone have any recommendations (preferably from experience) of suitable devices?

I was looking at the HTC Touch Cruise but have read about various problems with it which may delay roll out.

Alternatively does anyone have experience of the battery life of something like the ipaq 314 (http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=156154)?

Priority is reasonable battery life when using GPS.

we unleashed TyTnIIs earlier this month and they appear to work well

mu TyTn I would do GPS for 'day' (9hours) without an issue; the blue tooth gps ran out of charge first

Thanks Carl, 9hrs is pretty impressive. We have only been considering built in GPS PDA's for convenience but with decent battery life like that it may be worth putting up with the hassle of a separate unit.  Is the bluetooth link reliable? How does the battery life on the TyTnII's compare when using GPS?

On further reading I now know the HP 300 series runs WinCE not WinMobile so currently is not compatible with the Mscape software.

We've also been looking at Mio P360 and the HP RX series both of which seem to be discontinued! Just as I find a device which fits the bill I find it is no longer available!

tbh not sure how long the tytn II will run with constant gps use; it is a built in device that can be on or off

we should be running wild key software this summer, so will learn more then!

Hi Tobias,

Are you still looking for a suitable device? The Pidion BM150R has GPS, a large screen and good battery life. It runs Win Mobile 5.0 and seems to run Mscape software (I've tried titles from the library).

There is now a 'high capacity' battery option, which roughly doubles the battery life should the standard battery prove inadequate for your purpose.

Please contact me at jim.rowe[at]rflcomms.co.uk for more information.

cheers, Jim
