I thought it would be a good idea if we could collectively build a guide here for those attending the BETT 2007 show in January with an interest in mobility and handhelds.

So if you are a commercial party with a stand, participating on a stand or presentation or just know of something relevant please post in this thread.

As you may already know Handheld Learning will be occupying stand J56 in the National Hall near the Becta stand. We will be joined by a number of practitioners who will be demonstrating how they are using handhelds within their teaching, there will also be presentations of a number of applications including Inspiration, PhatPad, Pocket Painter, Red Media Composer and RedHalo. Fujitsu-Siemens will be showing their new EDA device and Sony will be showing how their PSP may be used in a school environment. Everybody is welcome and if you have something you'd like to present please get in contact.

Graham,

Good idea. Many thanks for the invite. SUMS Online have stand SW88 in the software zone. Our large collection of highly interactive maths activities are now all available in a version designed for PDA. We call this simply SUMS on PDA. We will be providing demonstration facilities on our stand so that visitors can get a hands-on feeling for the content. As background, our PDA software is already part of pilot trials in six local authority areas, and will be part of many more as soon as the EDA is released - allowing others to start their trials.

If anybody would like a set of our PDA software to look at in advance of the show, please let me know.

WildKey will also be there at stand SW158....we shall be launching WildData and WildAuthor. WildData enables you to create your own recording form for any use (e.g. record wildlife, red buses or the amount of litter in the playground)...it can also be used to create questionnares or multiple-choice tests...WildAuthor enables you to make your own identification keys (or decision trees)....you can also still play on our wildKeys (identifying butterflies etc.) and hopefully we will have a garden bird key ready (with sound)....see you there!

Hi Graham
Intuitive Media will be on Stand F70, Grand Hall and we'll be showing www.SuperClubsPLUS.com on PSP, Nintendo DS, Palm and any piece of kit that our friends at Steljes throw our way! If programming goes according to plan (does it ever?) we'll also have GoldStarCafe.net on handheld devices. So now you can have a protected learning community wherever you go.

Thanks Graham
We at StreetAccess will be there on stand SW67, demonstrating how teachers can use i-Guide to create their own interactive materials for wireless handhelds, smartphones and more. You'll be able to create materials and view them instantly on a number of devices - including various phones, Sony PSP, and maybe an EDA if Graham can rustle one up for us. Free Quality Street (or similar! while stocks last!) for all Handheld Forum members and friends. Check out our website.

Steljes will be showcasing its out-of-the-box mobile learning package at BETT on stand B50. A collaboration between Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Windows Mobile, Handheld Learning and more. This total product proposition has already shown very encouraging results in rigorous trials across the UK. Come to our stand and ask pupils from Bristol, Kent and Wolverhampton schools why they think mobile learning improves their grades and helps make their parents and teachers proud.

We'd really like forum members' feedback on a cutting edge Assistive Technology set-up that we will be showing -- from a Pocket PC Phone's Camera -> OCR -> Text to Speech as a very portable means of hearing posters, documents etc for people with reading difficulties. It's called CapturaTalk. How would it fit with your pda educational interests? We're on stand F30.

Hi Graham,

I don't suppose the presentations are available for download somewhere?

I really wanted to see the RedHalo one, but unfortunately didn't make it to your stand in time.

If not, Sad is there some information somewhere else - I did take away one of the flyers with me, but I did want to see it

Hi Mat

Welcome to the forum and thanks for visiting us at BETT.

Unfortunately due to noise volumes at the event we didn't record the presentations but what you have suggested is a great idea so let's see if we can put together a podcast.

As soon as we have it I'll let you know.
