The Samsung P9000 "Mobile Convergence Device" was announced back in November 2006 and was being demonstrated at the recent 3GSM Summit in Barcelona. Like many of the devices that seem to be appearing and discussed on this Forum, e.g. Ameo, Flame, S-XGen, EDA, Q2 (Macao) it represent's another step towards the industries acknowledgement that the future is mobile and as David Perry says is "hotting up".

Of course, as said many times on these pages, it's how mobility will affect teaching practice and learning that interests us most but it's also important, in my opinion, to know what tools that learners may be using if not now but in the very near future.

Anyway, I'm a self-confessed gadget freak  Grin so knock yourself out with this one which I think has a pretty cool "James Bond" like design.

Well done Graham for bringing this one to the forum...I have been tracking this for a long time...
Personally, I love this device.... it really is a step forward in converging the tools which we need.

My only concern with this new generation of devices is robustness!
Once again we are taking a device designed for personal ownership by an "Office Exec." and potentially putting it into the learner environment...

In the Learning2Go project... Phase 2 we have been very pleased with the performance of the Pocket Loox 720, but we will be up to a 15% damage rate on the devices by the end of Y2.
This needs to be factored in to the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of any project or initiative.

We will try out these new devices... but the TCO must be considered if we are to make Mobile learning common place.  Smiley

BTW don't you just love the way that this device swivels??

I agree with my mentors Mr Brown - Martin and Mr Perry, that it is just great that we have seen a real renaissance in device design in the recent days.. dare I suggest that device manufacturers have been waiting for the release of the snappily titled new OS - Windows Mobile 6!

Anyhow, more gadget-fest news after CeBit next week... As I did last year, I promise a full report.....

Any one else going?? Cool
