This has recently been published in Australia.

http://web.ceo.melb.catholic.edu.au/index.php?sectionid=333

It outlines a trial we have run in Year 6 classrooms over the last two years using Zire 72s.  I still cannot for the life of me work out why this model was discontinued other than for the obvious reason that it wasn't making money.  But, but, but the 72 has got, (had) everything you'd want in a handheld device.

Perhaps it may be symptomatic of Palm world wide but, after initially supporting us last year, they simply do not seem interested in supporting handhelds in education in Australia. At last week's national computers in education conference in Cairns, there were half a dozen other speakers on handhelds in Australian classrooms.

Best wishes

There were several projects in the UK that used the Palm Zire 72 but these ran in problems due to reliability issues such as screen failure and poor service back-up, e.g. devices that broke down after 30 days would take months to be repaired.

Their replacment range of TX handhelds not only didn't feature a camera but didn't even feature a microphone!

Palm didn't appear in their own backyard at NECC San Diego this year.

Once the leader in education one has to wonder whether Palm now care at all?

Well they sort of care....

but they are still living under a delusion that bolting a few applications around Windows mobile makes it "Palm like".
